Physics for Scientists and Engineers: For Scientists and Engineers with Modern Physics: Extended Version By Paul M. Fishbane, Stephen Gasiorowicz, Steve Thornton
Publisher: Pearson Education Number Of Pages: 1440 Publication Date: 2004-06-17 ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0131911821 Format: Djvu Size: 48 Mb
Reader's review: Please consider this as one of the defacto first year Physics texts for undergradautes. It covers all of the fundamentals you can expect to learn such as E-M theory, Mechanics, Dynamics, Atomic theory and a little bit of Space Science.[ The book is divided up in to clear sections and contains lots of problems with answers at the rear of the book. A lot of the questions set in my first year were based on questions in this book. Considering the breath of the material this can be a one stop shop for most students.
Designing, implementing, and operating a wireless sensor network involves a wide range of disciplines and many application-specific constraints. To make sense of and take advantage of these systems, a holistic approach is neededand this is precisely what Wireless Sensor Networks delivers.
Inside, two eminent researchers review the diverse technologies and techniques that interact in todays wireless sensor networks. At every step, they are guided by the high-level information-processing tasks that determine how these networks are architected and administered. Zhao and Guibas begin with the canonical problem of localizing and tracking moving objects, then systematically examine the many fundamental sensor network issues that spring from it, including network discovery, service establishment, data routing and aggregation, query processing, programming models, and system organization. The understanding gained as a resulthow different layers support the needs of different applications, and how a wireless sensor network should be built to optimize performance and economyis sure to endure as individual component technologies come and go.
Written for practitioners, researchers, and students and relevant to all application areas, including environmental monitoring, industrial sensing and diagnostics, automotive and transportation, security and surveillance, military and battlefield uses, and large-scale infrastructural maintenance. Skillfully integrates the many disciplines at work in wireless sensor network design: signal processing and estimation, communication theory and protocols, distributed algorithms and databases, probabilistic reasoning, energy-aware computing, design methodologies, evaluation metrics, and more. Demonstrates how querying, data routing, and network self-organization can support high-level information-processing tasks.
Bernd Girod l Signals And Systems Wiley Signals And Systems Prentice Hall ISBN 978-0-471-98800-7 April 2001 Format: PDF 592 Pages 31 Mb size
This book provides a comprehensive, modern approach to signals and systems, concentrating on those aspects that are most relevant for applications such as communication systems and signal processing. Emphasis is placed on building the reader's intuition and problem-solving ability, rather than formal theorems and proofs. "The coverage of the book is comprehensive, providing a broad overview, using a whole host of exercises. The wealth of the worked examples and problems complemented by solutions is particularly attractive. The level of mathematics is not too daunting for the good average student and the authors do their utmost to mitigate the difficulties, skilfully using worked examples." Prof. Lajos Hanzo, University of Southampton author of Mobile Radio Communications and Single-and Multi-carrier QAM Check out the companion Website for 'Systool' simulation software using Java applets to animate many of the key examples and exercises from the book.

It represents a suitable advanced textbook for students, as well as offering research workers concise overviews of topics adjacent to their areas of research. Contributors include leading authorities from Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Special functions and orthogonal polynomials in particular have been around for centuries. Can you imagine mathematics without trigonometric functions, the exponential function or polynomials? In the twentieth century the emphasis was on special functions satisfying linear differential equations, but this has now been extended to difference equations, partial differential equations and non-linear differential equations.
Voice and Speech Quality Perception: Assessment and Evaluation by Ute Jekosch, (Signals and Communication Technology) Springer ISBN: 3540240950 2005 Year 208 Pages Format: PDF 1.4 Mb size
Foundations of Voice and Speech Quality Perception starts out with the fundamental question of: ???How do listeners perceive voice and speech quality and how can these processes be modeled???? Any quantitative answers require measurements. This is natural for physical quantities but harder to imagine for perceptual measurands. This book approaches the problem by actually identifying major perceptual dimensions of voice and speech quality perception, defining units wherever possible and offering paradigms to position these dimensions into a structural skeleton of perceptual speech and voice quality. The emphasis is placed on voice and speech quality assessment of systems in artificial scenarios. Many scientific fields are involved. This book bridges the gap between two quite diverse fields, engineering and humanities, and establishes the new research area of Voice and Speech Quality Perception.
Michael R. Hatch, ?«Vibration Simulation Using MATLAB and ANSYS?» ISBN: 1584882050 Publisher: Chapman & Hall/CRC Publication Date: 2000-09-21 Number Of Pages: 680 pdf 7,7 mb
Book Description
Incorporating the use of MATLAB to help with the solution of problems, this text explores the subject of vibration from a fairly sophisticated, mathematical point of view. With a three degree-of-freedom (DOF) system as a unifying theme, the author develops the associated equations of motion, then in each chapter includes both a closed-form solution and the MATLAB code for solving a problem. The book's unique approach makes it especially useful for engineers who lack experience with state space, and it will prove useful to both the mechanical and control engineering communities in enhancing their ability to communicate.
In a single useful volume, Vibration Fundamentals explains the basic theory, applications, and benefits of vibration analysis, which is the dominant predictive maintenance technique used with maintenance management programs. All mechanical equipment in motion generates a vibration profile, or signature, that reflects its operating condition. This is true regardless of speed or whether the mode of operation is rotation, reciprocation, or linear motion. There are several predictive maintenance te ..
