The Art of Deception: Controlling the Human Element of Security English Format: PDF Format 366 pages Wiley; New Ed edition (October 17, 2003) ISBN-10: 076454280X 843 KB
Mitnick is the most famous computer hacker in the world. Since his first arrest in 1981, at age 17, he has spent nearly half his adult life either in prison or as a fugitive. He has been the subject of three books and his alleged 1982 hack into NAD inspired the movie War Games. Since his plea-bargain release in 2000, he says he has reformed and is devoting his talents to helping computer security. It's not clear whether this book is a means toward that end or a, wink-wink, fictionalized account of his exploits, with his name changed to protect his parole terms. Either way, it's a tour de force, a series of tales of how some old-fashioned blarney and high-tech skills can pry any information from anyone. As entertainment, it's like reading the climaxes of a dozen complex thrillers, one after the other. As a security education, it's a great series of cautionary tales; however, the advice to employees not to give anyone their passwords is bland compared to the depth and energy of Mitnick's descriptions of how he actually hacked into systems. As a manual for a would-be hacker, it's dated and nonspecific better stuff is available on the Internet but it teaches the timeless spirit of the hack. Between the lines, a portrait emerges of the old-fashioned hacker stereotype: a socially challenged, obsessive loser addicted to an intoxicating sense of power that comes only from stalking and spying.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People English Format: PDF Format 384 pages ISBN-10: 0743269519 Free Press; 15 Anv edition (November 9, 2004) 750 KB
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change was a groundbreaker when it was first published in 1990, and it continues to be a business bestseller with more than 10 million copies sold. Stephen Covey, an internationally respected leadership authority, realizes that true success encompasses a balance of personal and professional effectiveness, so this book is a manual for performing better in both arenas. His anecdotes are as frequently from family situations as from business challenges.
Before you can adopt the seven habits, you'll need to accomplish what Covey calls a "paradigm shift"--a change in perception and interpretation of how the world works. Covey takes you through this change, which affects how you perceive and act regarding productivity, time management, positive thinking, developing your "proactive muscles" (acting with initiative rather than reacting), and much more. This isn't a quick-tips-start-tomorrow kind of book. The concepts are sometimes intricate, and you'll want to study this book, not skim it. When you finish, you'll probably have Post-it notes or hand-written annotations in every chapter, and you'll feel like you've taken a powerful seminar by Covey
Kelly Vinal ?«The Extracted MBA: : A Topical Reference for the Contemporary MBA?» Universal Publishers ISBN 1-58112-735-9 (August 2000) 1st Edition pdf 248 pages 2.70 MB
The Extracted MBA represents the culmination of a decade's worth of undergraduate and graduate study, as well my practical management experiences, both in my work and in the courses I teach. Upon being awarded my MBA in 1998, I searched for a book that could concisely provide a reference, a recap if you will, of what I had learned in my years of study. Sure, there were books out there that professed to make MBAs out of lay folk, but they were the literary equivalent of snake oil. There simply wasn't a book written for MBAs that provided what I desired, and what I truly believed that the MBA community needed. I sat at my computer one night and began transcribing the four boxes of notes I had accumulated in the course of my studies. It would be three weeks before I completed the first section of the first management course I had ever taken. Aptly, that was Extracted Management! I read through it and realized that I had an opportunity to create a reference that myself and my fellow MBAs could really use! The Extracted MBA was born. I hope these series of extractions serve you well as you recount the topics that whizzed-by in the torrent of information to which we were exposed. With this tool, may your MBA skills remain as fresh as the day you walked across the stage and received your degree! Please note that the extracts are organized in a quasi-outline format, with indentations that expound on preceding notes.
From the classroom to the boardroom, whether you are the CEO of a multi-national corporation, or a prospective business student with aspirations of achieving a Master of Business Administration degree, The Extracted MBA is your information resource. In a world replete with management how-to books that merely scratch the surface of core management sciences, this book contains the boiled-down ingredients of the MBA experience. The Extracted MBA provides comprehensive concept notes organized in the same sequence in which they are taught in leading business schools. Each independent subject provides an excellent and concise review of an entire MBA course that MBAs may reflect upon, or that students may utilize in conjunction with their studies. Regardless of how you use this valuable tool, The Extracted MBA is sure to become an integral part of your business reference collection!
